10 days around Sri Lanka with the best driver-guide we’ve ever had

点评：We were lucky enough to book our Sri Lanka round trip with Mahaweli Travels, and we got Buddhika Girigahama as our driver — he made this trip absolutely fantastic.
Over 10 days he took us around the island to restaurants, cool bars and experiences, and to places we would never have found on our own. He even took us on some fantastic detours just so we could see elephants along the way — which we love — and he always did that little extra for us, which we truly hope he gets rewarded for.
Buddhika is an incredibly warm person with real depth, very humble, and he showed us a next level of service we have honestly never experienced before. Not once did we feel he did anything to fish for extra tips — but of course he was very happy when we finally insisted he accept something for all the extra service he gave us.
He also always came with great recommendations on optional add-ons — which route to take, and what pickup time made sense so we would have time for everything we wanted to experience. The whole setup is highly professional. The driver stays in his own part of the hotel, but on several evenings we chose to take him out to dinner with us — and by the end it almost felt like traveling with family. My wife and I both shed a tear when he left.
Mahaweli fixes everything and responds quickly. The car was comfortable, and Buddhika drove impeccably the entire route — a big contrast to most other taxis we have been in here.
We booked the trip from Norway through a travel agency, and the result exceeded every expectation we could have had. The route around the island: 100/100.
We will miss Buddhika and hope to meet him again in the future — and we will definitely come back to Sri Lanka and book a new trip with Mahaweli!
