Luxurious High Sierra Camping Pack Trip From June Lake

点评：Frontier Pack Train runs many trips into Ansel Adam Wilderness that I could not get to on foot. I went on a four day pack trip. The crew is professional. The animals know their jobs. You get hot breakfasts, dinners, and sack lunches. The menu favors meat eaters. I prefer a vegetarian diet but went with the flow. I packed dried apples, fresh carrots (for myself, horses, and mules) for snacks. The tent is big. I am 5’6” and can do yoga inside the tent. The toilet is a deep hole dug in the ground. There’s a wooden box and a toilet seat on top. There’s a nice swimming hole and plenty of rocks to sun bath near camp. We swapped stories at the nightly campfire. There’s no s’mores. Bring your own if that’s important to you. The experience is very luxurious compares to backpacking.
I took one horse lesson and did a few trail rides in my hometown prior to pack trip. I am so glad I did. Some trail sections are steep with stone steps switchbacks. My knees and back were sore going over stones but they were fine once I am off the horse walking around. Wished there were gel seat saddles. I would happily pay extra for those.
We visited Weber, Sullivan, Clark Lakes. It was heavenly to swim in those lakes. We saw plenty of peaks. My favorites were Riiter and Banner. Thank you Kent for steering me into a beginner trip. Thank you Justin and Stuart for cooking and taking good care of everyone and animals. Nicole is awesome for daily trail rides. I paid with check for the trip. It’s cash only for trail ride.
