点评:I didn't know Eduardo Chillida until visiting the Basque Country, but was fascinated by the public art in so many places and so was very keen to visit Chillida Leku. It did not disappoint. The space is amazing - a huge landscaped garden around an old farmhouse, with sculptures everywhere. It was amazing to be able to see the sculptures from different angles, including touching and going inside them, and in many ways I loved the lack of interpretation outside - it felt as if we were encountering the art on its own terms. The farmhouse gallery space had more interpretation, which was also good in its own way, and gave a sense of who the artist was and his development throughout his career.
My only slight caveat is that I had overestimated how child friendly it would be - although my kids had a great time overall, the general feeling was extremely hushed and reverent (very much in the indoor gallery spaces but even in the cafe and toilets as well). The cafe was very much a 'posh brunch' vibe rather than the 'coffee and cake' I was expecting. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for families with small children.
