Great Glen Way的点评
点评：On our visit to Scotland we walked along a number of sections of the The Great Glen Way.
Our first section was along the Caledonian Canal from Loch Linnhe to Loch Lochy. Taking in the start of the canal and the famous Neptune's Staircase. Amazing highland scenery and views of Ben Nevis, even in May there was still snow on the top!
We also walked a section above Invermoriston to the View Catcher, through ancient woodlands with majestic pines, all the time getting views over Loch Ness. Then there was Urquart Castle and Loch Ness itself, looked, but no monster.
Finally we did a short walk around Inverness again along the canal ending at the Ness Island. Nature, scenery and history abound from Fort William to Inverness.
I had walked the Great Glen as a young geology student following the Great Glen Fault almost five decades back. It was not the tourist attraction then as it is today and the trails were not as well marked, but what a splendid walk with lochs and mountain views. There is always a quiet spot to stop and take in the wonder of nature.
