点评：My wife asked an interesting question: if we had to choose between visiting Lucerne or visiting Bern, which would we pick? We both agreed on Bern. Both cities are beautiful. Both offer unique experiences. But Old City in Bern is block after block of medieval streets lined with ancient fountains, fascinating shops, and vistas of the river wrapped around it. And, it is statistically one of the safest capitol cities in the world. You feel safe heading back to your lodging later in the evening, even on public transportation (which is outstanding). While on the map Old City may appear quite large, it is actually tiny when compared to other capitol cities. It takes just a couple of hours to explore it well at a leisurely pace. Something you might want to consider doing if you are headed there is to head to the Rose Garden across the river for sunset. It looks down on the river and across into Old City. People of all ages gather there to watch the sun descend, including musicians who fill the air. Is it worth adding Bern to your tour of Switzerland? Absolutely!
