点评:This museum is an absolute must for anyone in the Hull area and anyone interested in discovering more about Wilberforce and the history of slavery.
It is, as many have said, curated in a way that values literature over artefacts so definitely expect to read a lot. I think given the topic, it is the most dignified set up- gimmicky interactive exhibits would be in poor taste I feel. Still, you visit here to learn above all else so I think it’s curated perfectly with this in mind.
I was particularly taken by the library room as a slavery researcher, and have contacted the museum to request access to his letters which I hope they can provide.
Fascinating exhibitions, we easily spent over an hour here. Did visit with young children as part of a visit to the museum quarter and they didn’t “get” this museum in the same way but I fully expected this. It did create a wider conversation with my six year old afterwards which was brilliant.
