点评:If you're a person, who is yet to see elephants in the wild, this is a nice glimpse into the tamed version of the wild elephants. The elephants here are old/ disabled/ injured. They take care of them. There are papers, bags and other items available that are made from elephant dung. This apparently is a great seller. As the dung is rich in fibre content.
The elephants walk on the streets along with us. But, all of them are chained. The mahouts have a pointed stick with them to direct the elephants. There are chain locks on the rocks in the river. The elephants however have their young ones with them. There are places for them to have a good mud bath to cool off.
It is a bit saddening to see these majestic creatures in chains.
P.S: If this is your first stop in Sri Lanka, buy your souvenirs here. They're cheaper than the rest of the places.
