点评:I am a Tour Guide and brought to elderly Americans here on the 28th of September 2025
There is no doubt this is a beautiful place to visit
However, I’m embarrassed for the lady with an English accent who is working here that day. She should not be working in Scottish tourism.
The script at Drummond is if you are disabled or have mobility issues you can drive to the ticket office and pick up tickets and then drive to enter the gardens via the level access at the bottom avoiding the multiple steps
The two guests I heard were frail, and unable to cope with stairs or indeed walk long ditances.
In front of my guests, this woman demanded to know why I had parked the car close to the ticket office
This then meant I had to say to her in front of my guests that they had mobility issues.
She then told me that we were being filmed and demanded to see my blue badge(disabilty badge in UK). All of this in front of the guests.
I explained they were from visitors from America
All in all, a truly sorry episode. Highly embarrassing for our guests. And I could see they were visibly shaken by the incident. This woman not only managed to give them a terrible welcome but also highlighted the fact that they are disabled
Instead of enjoying their visit they lasted about 10 minutes before requesting to leave.
The “Karen” at Drummond Gardens needs trained or should consider another career.
I would also say I am now very reluctant to bring anybody back and I have been over 25 times before
