Disappointing trip
The Blue Train的点评
点评：My Wife and I along with some friends - South African and Spanish - went on the blue train for the second time this August. We did a trip in November '21 and because of that awesome experience decided to join this group again. What a huge disappointment it turned out to be! I'm not one to complain about petty things but decided to write this review to just put this "five star" experience into perspective. First of all, we departed late, and it was as if this had become common practice. None of the staff was even apologetic about this and we just had to accept it as "this is Africa". The train then took off at a very slow pace with countless starts and stops putting us even further behind schedule. When we got to Bloemfontein, we stopped at the station for almost three hours for the train to be refilled with water. The station is non-operational, and it looked like a rubbish dump. At this stage I was ready to disembark and buy a plane ticket back to Johannesburg, calling it quits. because of us being so far behind schedule all activities for the rest of the trip were cancelled, Kimberley mine visit. We were then informed that there will be a Six-hour layover in Worcester and were given the option to leave the train and travel by bus to Cape town. This turned out to be the best decision of the whole trip and fellow guests who opted to stay on the train only arrived their hotel at 23h30. I must make mention of the staff who was always very professional and helpful throughout the trip.
