A historic pub well worth stopping for
The Bridge Inn的点评
点评：We stopped at The Bridge Inn for lunch, partly because of its fascinating history — including Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 1998 — and it certainly lived up to expectations.
The pub itself is a lovely building in a fantastic location. Sitting outside on a sunny day, the garden provides a beautiful setting with great views and is a real highlight of the visit. Parking is available, although it is worth noting that spaces are a little tight, particularly if you have a larger vehicle.
For lunch, I had the meat and potato pasty, which was excellent. The quality was great, the portion size was just right, and the relish served alongside it was a particularly enjoyable touch. The presentation was simple, but with a traditional dish like this there is only so much you can do — the important thing is that it tasted great and represented good value.
The drinks selection is impressive, with a strong focus on real ales that will appeal to a wide range of visitors. Real ale is not usually my first choice, but the beers I tried were very enjoyable. The traditional tankards were also a nice touch and added to the character of the place.
I had limited interaction with the staff, so I cannot comment extensively on the service, but everything we experienced was smooth and straightforward.
A few wasps did their best to interrupt an otherwise perfect afternoon outside, but that is hardly something the pub can control!
Overall, this is a charming, historic pub with excellent character, great views, good food and a traditional atmosphere. If you are passing, it is definitely worth stopping for lunch or a drink. If you enjoy history, traditional pubs or real ale, I would make a point of visiting.
