点评：My friend and I wanted to climb a mountain, but didn't want to pay the amount that you pay at other mountains, like Kilimanjaro or mount Meru. Also, since we didn't have much time, we wanted to do a shorter climb. Through TripAdvisor we found Thomas, whose name was mentioned quite a few times online. Since we couldn't really find a website or anything, we didn't exactly know what we were signing up for and if it would be legitimate. We contacted Thomas on +255 784 503 300 and set up a date for the climb. We were staying in Arusha the day before, so he helped us out to get the bus to Katesh. Here, he arranged the stay, pickup with the bajaji (tuktuk) and breakfast. Then we started our climb and ascended for about 5 hours to campsite. Here, tents were already set up for us and we had some dinner, which Thomas' wife cooked for us. At 5am the next day we started the last bit of climb to the top, which took about 2 hours. Here we saw the most beautiful sunrise. After enjoying this for a bit, we started our descend back to campsite, where we had breakfast. Thomas' and another carrier packed the tents. We ascended for another 2,5 hours when we arrived at the main port again. The whole experience was so amazing and something I will never forget. Thomas arranged everything for us, and was so kind. Also, his English was good, which made communicating easy. After the climb, Thomas also helped us to get on the bus to Mto wa Mbu, which went really smoothly since he talks Swahili and knows people from the bus company.
All in all, we had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend climbing mount Hanang and booking this through Thomas. We paid a total amount of 400.000 TZS per person ($150), which is also a lot less compared to other mountains (usually starting around $500).
