Splendid palace in a beautiful town

点评：As a big fan of Baroque& Rococo palaces who had already visited all the famous palaces in Europe, I was very impressed by this château's magnificent interior. Various tours (guided and self-visit) were offered to visit different parts of this château. I visited everything (4 hr visit!) -- Representative rooms (1 hr first floor guided tour), entire second floor ("Via Manifica" self-visit, gallery/library/chapel/treasury ), Sala Terrena (30 min guided tour of the 4 beautiful lower level rooms). For visitors with less time to spend, I'd recommend Sala Terrena guided tour + Via Manifica self-visit of the second floor which has high quality art collection and many rooms as splendid as the representative rooms. It should be noted that the 'treasury" is a tiny room with about 10 items on display, located half-way up the round tower with narrow spiral steps that are challenging for mobility-limited visitors. The prized possession of the treasury is 4 magnificent paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder. The pleasant garden adjacent to the château has both French garden & English garden, with food/drinks available at various points.
Kroměříž is a beautiful town with splendid baroque churches & lovely town squares. The famous Flower Garden was unfortunately closed for emergency construction work on the day of my visit, Tourist Office staff told me that August is the month when flowers are in full bloom.
If visiting Kroměříž from Olomouc by train, be aware that the connecting station Hulín has train to/from Olomouc and train to/from Kroměříž located in 2 OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE TRAIN STATION BUILDING -- this means, to make the connection, one needs to walk into the building & walk out the opposite door to the opposite side.
