点评:The Oratorio di Santa Cecilia is a very nice chapel in romanesque style in the Bologna Via Zamboni, along the portico where the church of St. Giacomo Maggiore also finds itself. Formerly it was a larger temple, but it underwent a downsizing as a consequence of the construction of the Bentivoglio chapel in the mentioned church.
An interesting series of frescoes decorate its side walls. They represent scenes from the life of St. Cecilia and her husband Valeriano. They were carried out by famous painters of the time, such as Francesco Francia, Tiburzio Passarotti, Cesare Tamaroccio, Lorenzo Costa and Amico Aspertini.
The place is worth visiting inasmuch as the frescoes concerned are very interesting and somewhat original. Besides, the covered outer corridor in the same building, some steps away from the chapel, to which one can accede is very pleasant and peaceful. It's a real delight to walk on it to and fro under its groined vaults and by the cylindrical columns separating the corridor from a small nice garden.
The street itself where the Oratorio stands is also fabulous and peaceful, and walking under its porticoes is likewise delightful. The fluted columns with their ionic capitals and the semicircle arches that they support are marvellous and full of charm. For all those reasons, the visit to the stated chapel shouldn't be missed.
