点评：Three of us chose the jetski Island Hopping Trip, which costs roughly 369 USD per person, to go to islands 43 miles away. To give some background, for the past year, we have been doing jetski island hopping trip with a different rental service that uses a jetski brand called seadoo, and we wanted try something new. The only rental service for Island Hopping in Jakarta that uses Yamaha jetskis is this rental service called Kraken Watersports, located in Baywalk Mall. Or so we thought…
The admin said the jetskis are Yamaha jetskis, but we can just tell by looking at the jetskis they weren’t due to no waterjet coming out the back, like a regular Yamaha. Once observing the jetskis up close, we were all confused on the quality of the jetskis; they all seemed very old and has never been maintained or checked in a long time. Not even within 5 mins of the Trip, the jetski I was using ran out of battery. And then, another 30 mins extra of just sitting around waiting for it to be fixed.
Once we got to the Island, all is well, we just relaxed and ate at the restaurant. However, when we were sitting down, I noticed none of the jetski crew was there, so I asked them whether they had eaten yet. And their response was no, 2nd Red Flag, the $369 doesn’t even include the crew's lunches, which doesn’t happen in the other rental jetski service we usually use. Therefore, I paid for their lunch.
Once it was 1 pm, the waves were getting worse. So we told the crew that we wanted to head back, and so we did. This time, we switched jetskis among each other. Not even 1 km from the island, the jetski I was using ran out of battery AGAIN. And so, that jetski had to get towed back to the island, and the crew worked on fixing it. And there we are again. Back on the Island. For another hour or two.
About an hour plus had passed, the crew charged the battery just to get the jetski starting again. Once we got out of the Island for the second time, the wind picked up, even more, making it ultimately more dangerous and risky. While the crew is in front leading us back to Jakarta, one of us was way behind. This got me worried because the crew didn’t seem to care and just kept going without looking back. I used a whistle to get the crew's attention like 500m away. Had I not paid attention to the person way behind me, he would’ve just been left behind. Remember, this would have NEVER happened if we were able to leave earlier without the battery dying.
While we were 80% of our way back from the trip, one of the three of us started to get lost and was going in the wrong direction. And yet again, the crew didn’t even notice. So I went to the person, and I helped him get back on track with the rest of us. Honestly, it seemed like I was a better crew than the actual crew. And to make it even worse, when we were like 90% of the way, the actual crew’s jetski broke down, and smoke was coming out of the back.
Luckily, we all arrived at the mall docks unscathed, but there were so many things that could’ve gone wrong due to the lack of professionality. After the trip, I tried to contact the admin about getting a refund for at least one of the jetskis as it kept breaking down. But all they said to me was that as long as you got back to the mall, no refunds are allowed, period.
If you’ve gotten to the end of this review, sorry for wasting your time, but I’d rather waste your time today than your money then. Hence I’m telling you to please be careful with this company, especially for the price.
FYI: I asked the crew about the jetskis, and they said they have all been engine swapped with car engines, hence why they were not proper Yamaha jetskis. Although this may sound cool, given the maintenance of these jetskis, I don’t trust their safety given the warning lights keep flashing. Below are pictures of us sitting on the shore, waiting for the crew to fix the battery on the Island.
