点评:After a relatively short and easy tramp, we arrived at the splendid Purakaunui Falls in the Catlins. This remote area of NZ is often overlooked by tourists who concentrate on the west coast of the South Island; however, we found the Catlins to be absolutely spectacular. AND not having the share the scenry with busloads of tourists made our visit even better. One word of caution about visiting the Catlins - it was the only part of NZ (and we traveled the length of both islands) where our GPS totally failed us. Cell signals are sporatic and often unreliable. I recommend an old-fashioned paper map that clearly marks which roads are unsealed or be prepared to spend a lot of time on gravel roads that may or may not lead you where you want to go. We ended up asking directions from the local sheep ranchers.
