点评:Visited on a hot day in July. Driving from Scarborough we entered at Hickley Gate and had a lovely drive through the forest to get to the visitor centre however think it might have been a better road to go via A170 and come in at the Pexton entrance.
Spoke to a very knowledgable gentleman in the visitor centre who advised us that the stickman trail would be better than the gruffalo orienteering course as we were using a pushchair for our youngest. The stickman trail is a loop starting & finishing at Dixon’s hollow. We had fun finding the signs & completing the activities in the pack we purchased from the visitor centre. There were a good range of activities to keep children of different ages amused. There are portaloo’s in the carpark but the one I used wasn’t the cleanest unfortunately.
We then stopped at Adderstone field to check out the playpark and managed to spot a couple of the gruffalo statues- wished we brought our baby carrier as would have been good to explore and find more.
We returned to the visitor centre for lunch at Dalby courtyard as had read reviews this was better than the cafe in the visitor centre- by this point the carpark was busier but we did manage to get parked.
This is definitely somewhere you could return to again and again as there were plenty walks of varying lengths as well as cycling and other outdoor activities.
