A great introduction to the beauty of Banff National Park

点评：Located in the eastern section of Banff National Park, not far from the town of Banff, the Lake Minnewanka Scenic Drive is a fully paved 8 mi/13 km loop road that begins at its intersection with the Trans-Canada Highway. My wife and I enjoyed this drive during mid-October 2023.
We arrived in Banff without one misdirected piece of luggage, which contained all our hiking gear. So, on our first full day in Banff, we searched for activities we could easily do in street clothes and walking shoes. We were very glad we chose to do the Lake Minnewanka Scenic Drive.
If you were to simply drive the loop without stopping, the drive would take no more than 20-30 minutes. That would be a shame if you did, because there’s so much to stop and take in along the way. Indeed, even though attractions like the Lake Minnewanka boat cruise were closed for the season, we found plenty to see and do. We found several spots to stop and take photos along both Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka, and were able to stretch our legs by exploring the ghost town of Bankhead; through it all we were surrounded by crystal clear blue waters, snow-capped mountains and vibrant fall colors.
Without our gear, we were worried that our day would be wasted until it arrived, but experiencing the Lake Minnewanka Scenic Drive made us that much more excited about exploring the magnificence of Banff National Park.
