点评：OK so we did it, took the steam train that I've read about (FYI I am NOT a Harry Potter fan). For an exorbitant price we booked a "first class" table for two, which got us exactly that - a table with two seats, and only a complementary cup of coffee or tea. We were lucky apparently, as we had the actual steam train and not the diesel. The ride itself is uneventful; what scenery you can see (once the ever-present shrubbery and trees gives way for a second) is rolling hills and occasional sheep, which you could see from your car instead for far less money. The windows don't open, so any photos are through glass, and forget about a shot of the viaduct, not gonna happen. You end up in Mallaig, a forgettable fishing village with the one redeeming quality of the Bloom and Graze shop which has delicious lunch boxes to purchase. Two hours in Mallaig and it's back on the train again. I don't recommend spending the money on this whatsoever, best take a regular ScotRail train and save loads. You could also camp out like the hordes of people we saw on the hills near the viaduct, if you want the iconic photo. Spend your dosh on something else.
