点评：We spent a full day in the Camargue Regional Park and it was one of the most peaceful and memorable parts of our trip. The landscape felt completely different from the rest of Provence—more open, raw, and full of life.
We started at the Parc Ornithologique de Pont de Gau, near Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The park is beautifully laid out, with wooden walkways and quiet trails through the wetlands. We were amazed by the number of flamingos—dozens of them just a few meters away, feeding or flying low over the water. We also saw herons, storks, and many other birds. It was relaxing and incredibly photogenic.
After the walk, we headed to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a small seaside town with white houses and a calm, laid-back atmosphere. We wandered through the streets, visited the old church, and spent some time on the beach. The whole area felt authentic and not too touristy, which we really appreciated.
What struck us most about the Camargue was the sense of space and quiet. We passed salt flats, lagoons, wild horses in the distance, and even a few black bulls grazing near the road. It was a perfect break from the busier towns in Provence.
Tips:
• Visit early or late in the day to avoid the heat and enjoy better light for photos.
• Bring water, sun protection, and comfortable shoes.
• Binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens are great if you enjoy birdwatching.
