点评:I was so impressed by the Springs Preserve! I had been once a few years back but took the opportunity to go again when I had family visiting from out of state and an aunt who LOVES to garden and bird watch. There are so many new sites and programs. My nephew had a great time at their Badge Class and learned all about desert ecosystems. They even give the participants a patch upon completion.
The Botanical Gardens are spectacular. Much different than the Florida gardens my aunt was used to, but it gave us all an appreciation for Mojave Desert flora and fauna. A must visit is the Teaching Garden- they had an incredible variety of peppers and herbs that I had no idea you could grow in the desert.
We went on a Saturday morning which was ideal. The place definitely gets much busier in the afternoon. Plenty of free parking and they give you a detailed map that is really helpful especially out on the trails.
At the end, I got a membership. Even though it is a bit of a drive from my house, I need to be out in nature more and there is so much to see here, we did not get through all of it and we were there for 3 hours. Love that they are a non-profit and really want to teach people about history, the environment and sustainability.
