点评：This chambered cairn really helps you to make sense of the scale and layout of other chambered cairns you'll see on Orkney and elsewhere. It's not the easiest to get to – you need to get a ferry across to Rousay (and if you're driving, you'll need to reverse onto the ferry), and then the walk up and downhill from the parking place is steep. However, it's definitely worth it, and if you visit in summer you can nip across to the University of the Highlands and Islands Skaill Farm archaeological dig, which is just along the coast. Unlike other chambered cairns where antiquarians or Vikings were gung-ho about smashing their way in, this one has been excavated carefully and is protected from the elements by a metal barn containing raised walkways, so you can look at the cairn from ground level, and then look down at the inside. In addition, the views outside are beautiful, and there are seals on the beach.
