点评:We had wanted to cycle parts of the Strawberry Line for years, but had always been put off by the lack of parking along the route. However, after discovering a new car park by the power station in Sandford, we decided to give it a go last November.
Parking at this particular car park is free and there's a good number of spaces available. From here we crossed the country lane and found ourselves on the path. It was fantastic - lovely and flat and wide enough for cyclists and pedestrians.
For this visit we cycled from Sandford to Axbridge, passing through Winscombe. As someone who isn't confident cycling on the road this was a perfect option - it felt so safe and enjoyable.
On this route we passed the original station platform at Old Station Green in Winscombe, cycled through the 165 metre railway tunnel which passes under Shute Shelve Hill and stopped for refreshments at Ripley Antiques in Axbridge Square. To get here there was a small amount of road cycling, however it was rather quiet.
I didn't have the energy to continue on to Cheddar sadly (my husband definitely did) but perhaps next time. Highly recommended - perfect for cycling families.
