Scenic view with giant parking lot
Sedona Airport Scenic Overlook的点评
点评：I should mention that this scenic overlook is apparently separate from Airport Mesa Trail, which apparently circles the mesa and may also afford good views.
Giant, unattractive parking lot with portable toilets and a nice viewing area across the street. About $3 I think. Great, sweeping views to the west and North, access to views to the east, and to a “vortex” (hill, maybe 3/4 mile) via a rocky but otherwise good trail. I should mention that sunset viewers were generally quiet and well-behaved, and there were a couple of guys there providing some soothing music, voice, flute, guitar, that should be nice for pretty much anyone. So, the mood at the overlook was nice.
And, yes, great photos. But where can you NOT get them in Sedona?
Great for:
1) People who cannot or do not want to hike, but want a high lookout.
2) Families including handicapped, elderly, or young children.
3) People who need a very short drive from town center.
4) People who are not dressed to hike or to get dirty
Not so great for:
1) Anyone looking for solitude or near-solitude.
2) Anyone wanting a 360-degree view.
3) Anyone who does not like a giant, gravel parking lot and the sight of utility or airport towers, and airport buildings included in their experience.
Summary: We did enjoy it. Pretty much what I expected, but a little too easy and too populated for me, even in low season (summer). Price is good, for the ease of access to view.
