Animals Suffering. This zoo should be closed

点评：If you care about animals do not come to this zoo. Melios zoo is the worst zoo in the Western world. It would never get a licence to operate in any other Western country. The owner is completely irresponsible. There are no zookeepers or trained staff who know how to care for wild animals. The owner does everything all by himself! There are hundreds of animals including lions, tigers, bears and a camel. All the owner seems to do is to dump the cheapest food over the side of the animals' enclosure. There does not appear to be any vet. Many of the animals have open wounds, lack of hair and foot/leg injuries. The capybaras have a tiny pond which is far too shallow and even in the height of summer when temperatures can soar past 40°C, this pond is often almost empty. Capybaras are a semi aquatic species who need water to thermoregulate and prevent their bodies from overheating dangerously. Many of the animals are given kitchen waste – the bits of vegetables which are thrown away, or vegetables which are rotting. The animals are even given bread dough bread can cause stasis which can lead to death. Some of the enclosures are too crowded as if the animals were allowed to breed out of control with no policy or strategy to control the number of babies born. It seems that Mr Melios has no understanding or knowledge of animals because if he understood animals and cared about them he would never keep animals like this and let them suffer. No one who cared about animals would operate a zoo like this. No other European country would license this zoo. I believe it is possible that Mr Melios really does not understand how bad this zoo is because he has no understanding of animals, and does not see their injuries and how much they are suffering.
