A park which is in need of good maintenance

点评：A place for an amble about, and has good access to City of Carlisle via an underpass. However, this used to be an excellent well maintained park, from the previous reviews 2023. But, in 2025, the maintenance has obviously slipped. There are poorly maintained shrubs and plant borders. There is litter and graffiti spoiling public areas, with broken glass on the grass. It’s a shame that a once quaint Victorian parks house is now empty and shabby. I would explore the city council to spend time and effort restoring this park before it is lost to vandalism. I did walk past some great outdoor tennis courts, which looked new.
A walk along the river, was nice, but spoilt by encroaching balsam weeds, head height.
There is a car park nearby, (pay and display) just beside the castle walls. But the road leading down to the park entrance by the castle is dirty and needs maintenance. There is a free area for parking along from this entrance, with limited spaces.
I did see a small cafe, but it didn’t appear very appealing to stop at.
