点评：We traveled to visit this fort on a Friday morning. North of Altoona as you’re driving to the fort you go through farmland, Amish farmland we saw Amish in horse and buggy. So we were a bit curious as to the origins of this fort. And when we got there, there was not a car in sight. It was desolate, empty. There is a parking lot and a few outbuildings and then you do see the fort which you can view from the parking lot however nobody was there. There were no guests. We decided to venture to one of the outbuildings and found that the door was open and there was a worker inside at the cash register by himself in a gift shop. And we asked about the tours and it was either $10 per person to tour yourself or $10 for him to be your guided tour. But nothing was going on at the fort. There was nothing there. Now there might be things there on other times and it’s probably best to go during an event when I suspect it’s more lively. But if you like forts and you want to be the only one there with no other docents or artisans or craftsman who talk about the fort and their profession back in the day during the hey-day of the fort, then it would be an OK trip for you.
I’ve visited other forts and this one was disappointing because nothing was going on. Maybe we hit it at a wrong time on a Friday.
Unfortunately, we will not be traveling back to see if the fort has something going on. There are other forts that are well managed.
