点评:Visited as part of a tour. The scion of the owners spoke no English but was clearly passionate about the company and its product, and worked with our translator to explain the operations and answer any questions we had.
As American for whom terracotta is usually associated with flower pots and roof tiles, touring what they do at the Mariani operation was illuminating both in how terracotta is created and in the various ways it's formed into artistic product. This is not mass production -- this is creating an product that is artistically refined and prepared for firing.
Very educational and interesting visit.
There are various items available for sale (a) at reasonable prices and (b) without any pressure to buy anything. We picked up a few small pieces that we could carry home, but noted the firm's website with an eye to future purchases.
In short, worth a visit!
