Enjoyable visit to 360-degree view
The Hoad Monument (Sir John Barrow Monument)的点评
点评：After visiting the Lake District for years, we’re so glad we at last got round to climbing Hoad Hill and going up the Barrow Monument.
We had a lovely sunny day for it, and it took about 100 mins in all to follow the zig-zag path up from Ulverston, do the tower, and get back down to the town.
The volunteers inside the monument were v welcoming, and it was interesting to learn about the life of Sir John Barrow.
We had to queue for about 10 minutes to go up. I enjoyed the steep narrow staircase that curls up the inside of the tower to the covered viewing space at the top. You do need a head for heights (one of our party got vertigo and had to turn back), and honestly the view outside the foot of the tower is nearly as good.
And what a view it is! - north to the Lakeland fells, and south across Morecambe Bay, with Ulverston itself right at your feet.
Altogether a very enjoyable experience.
