点评:As someone who has a massive fear of snakes, and normally wont even look at a picture of one, I was OK with this fascinating place!! Maybe I'd timed it right - it was too late in the season for the massive mating balls each containing thousands of snakes, but there were still a few, well behaved, small snakes on the paths at dens 1 and 4 so that I got the idea!
A well maintained gravel trail leads from the parking lot, by some picnic benches, to four of the garter snakes under ground dens, and helpful display boards explain what the snakes get up to in each season, how and when they return to the dens, and even how to handle the snakes safely (obviously, I didn't handle them and kept a safe distance!).
It takes at least an hour to walk around the whole site, more if you spend a long time observing the snakes.
This is well worth a visit if you're looking to see the snakes emerge at spring-time mating season, or even as a nice walk through a forest on a summer's day.
