Learn about the real Basque Country with a knowledgeable Basque guide

点评：My husband has Basque ancestry, so we were looking for a tour guide who could teach us about the Basque culture and see off the beaten track places. We spent four days with Mikel of Tours by Basques and saw and learned about the real Basque Country! The tourists who just go to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, drink wine in Rioja, and eat in high priced restaurants in San Sebastián are missing so much.
We spent a day along the coast near Bilbao, then traveled inland to see religious sites of Elorrio, Loyola and Arantzazu. A highlight of our time with Mikel was the day we spent visiting the Salt Valley of Añana, Orduña, and a Txakoli family winery where we had a home cooked meal. And on the last day we visited four villages where my husband’s ancestors lived. The scenery in the interior of the Basque region is spectacular and so unexpected. In my opinion, it’s the most beautiful part of Spain and Mikel is the guide to see it with!
