Thorne and Hatfield Moors的点评
点评：As their name suggests, this is a desolate and much forgotten part of North Lincolnshire. It is one of the largest and richest lowland peat areas in England. It has been a source of peat for centuries although extraction ended in 2001. The area has returned to its natural state with ponds, reed beds, marshy ares and trees.
There are way marked walks around the area with wooden broad walks over the wetter bits. It feels a world away and the only sounds are birdsong and the breeze. It is popular with dog walkers as well as bird watchers. For those wanting a longer walk, it is also part of the Peatland Way.
This was my first visit and on a sunny day it was magic!
One of the entrances is close to the Crowle Peatland Railway and they do a very good Sunday brunch on the third Sunday of the month and afternoon tea on the first Wednesday - combined with the walk, this makes an excellent half day.
