点评:On a showery Wednesday we wondered what we could do and decided to visit Brougham Castle. I'm so glad we did. The lady who greeted us at the entrance was very friendly and informative. You do need good footwear and I would suggest a torch if you want to go into the darkened places and up the tower. We very much enjoyed getting a feel of the place and going outside to do a circular walk around the castle, giving a different perspective. It has interesting informative boards, to give a sense of the history of the place and of course Lady Anne Clifford was prominent in this area so we learned a little more about her too.
We spent just over an hour here, if the weather had been better we would have spent longer.
I would say the only downside is that there is not a cafe nor parking. You have to park on the side of the road. We were lucky but it can be very difficult to find somewhere. I would have liked there to have been a basic cafe too just for coffee and cakes or sandwiches.
If you are in the area though it is worth a visit.
