点评：We had an incredible time joining ARCHELON’s Sea Turtle Beach Walk in Rethymno, and I can’t recommend it enough! The 30-minute tour was so informative, shedding light on the amazing conservation work ARCHELON does to protect the Loggerhead sea turtles nesting on Rethymno beach. The volunteer guide was passionate and knowledgeable, explaining the nesting process, the challenges the turtles face, and how we can help protect them.
We attended a turtle nest excavation, which was a highlight for our kids—they absolutely loved it! The experience of learning about the nests and seeing the protective cages up close was fascinating. The beach itself is beautiful, and knowing it’s a vital nesting site for these globally protected species made it even more special.
ARCHELON’s efforts to balance tourism with conservation are truly inspiring, and their work with over 500 volunteers worldwide is remarkable. If you’re in Rethymno, don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn about sea turtles and support their conservation. Highly recommend booking a walk or visiting their Information Station in town!
