点评:My wife and I visited the palace during a visit earlier this month. To some extent, the location combines the attractions of both a museum and an art gallery, with intact (and restored) architectural features from the 16th century, along with the sculptures and paintings of the Italian Guido Caprotti, and members of his family. The palace was empty when we visited, so we could take our time looking at all the various exhibits. It's really quite impressive, and certainly worthy of a visit. We hadn't heard of Caprotti, but we'll certainly be finding out more about his life and times now that we've seen his sculptures and paintings. He has an interesting style, with a vivid use of colour, and an emphasis on eyes when depicting the human form, which he certainly seems to think are the gateways to the soul! Well done to everyone who helped bring about this particular cultural offering - it definitely adds to the overall mix in Avila. Emphatically a must-see destination for those new to 'old' Avila!
