Very well-planned tour from Andasibe to Ifaty, with Tony as a fantastic guide!

点评：Three of us joined what was posted as a group tour, 12 days Andasibe to Ifaty, but it ended up just being us! Tony was our guide-- absolutely loved Tony, who taught us a lot of Malagasy and was an excellent driver. If you are with Tony, get him to take you to karaoke, which is one of his hobbies. The trip itself was wonderful, all of our local guides at the various parks were excellent and could not have asked for anything more in terms of the itinerary. The only thing I would improve is ensuring there is a clear direct phone number for someone who can respond to any issues that might arise while you are not with a guide.
A couple of tips generally for Madagascar-- a lot of the kids wanted pens, which we would have brought with us had we known! Tony was very thoughtful, and after chatting with him about the drought in the southwest of the country, we kept and refilled our water bottles with spring water and gave them out to people at the end of the trip in the southwest. We spent about $300 (U.S.) each not including driver tip on food and 1-2 alcoholic drinks per day. There were always vegetarian options at all hotels/restaurants we stopped at, though generally spaghetti or rice + vegetables (add chicken, zebu (cattle; like beef), or fish if not vegetarian), and maybe pizza. Breakfasts were generally eggs + fruit + bread + juice + coffee/tea, though some were very elaborate!
