点评：This is an absolutely unique, poignant and touching museum. The exhibition is dedicated to the 1973 volcanic eruption of Eldfell, one of Iceland's greatest natural disasters. This event changed the life of the island as a whole and in particular the lives of more than 5,000 people who had to abandon their homes in the middle of the night and evacuate the island, for many of them forever. That night, no one could answer - would the island survive, would it exist?
Go up to the second floor, where there is another unique exhibition dedicated to the eruption of another volcano Surtrey, as a result of which a new island appeared in 1963. The eruption of the volcano Surtrey lasted almost 4 years and since then only scientists are allowed on the new island to observe how new ecosystems are born. Today this island is included in the UNESCO heritage list.
