One of the best parts of Pompeii!

点评：The Villa of Mysteries is a well-preserved Roman villa that is one of the most popular parts of the Pompeii archaeological site. One of the most beautiful villas in Pompeii, it is famous for the lovely frescoes on its walls, which depict the initiation mysteries (rites) of the cult of Dionysus, god of wine and fertility. Some of the characters depicted on the frescoes are Dyonysus, his bride Ariadne, maenads, and fauns. The villa also contains plaster casts of the bodies of several people who were buried here by the pumice from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
I strongly suggest you visit the villa as it's one of my favourite parts of Pompeii, although you should take note that it's located in the north-west corner away from the rest of the site and you can only visit it with the Pompei+ ticket, which grants you entry to the suburban villas, namely the Villa of Mysteries and the nearby Villa of Diomedes. This ticket costs €22, but if you go for the €18 Pompeii Express ticket and then decide to visit the suburban villas too, you'll have to pay an additional €8 charge, so I suggest you think carefully before you decide which ticket to buy.
You can easily spend half an hour at the Villa of Mysteries, but if you are very interested, you could even spend an hour here admiring the various frescoes. However, make sure you give yourself enough time to explore the rest of Pompeii as it will take you at least 10 minutes to get from the villa to the forum, while the amphitheatre on the south-side of Pompeii is roughly half an hour away.
