点评:The real hidden gem of Jefferson is RVP-1875, a historical furniture shop, a working example of how furniture was made in 1875. Owner and master cabinet maker Robby makes all the furniture by hand with only tools available in 1875, no power tools to be found. Furniture crafted using triple joinery, each piece expected to last centuries.
Dropped by unannounced at 3pm, was greeted by one of Robby’s teenaged apprentices who eagerly described how all their furniture is constructed, and how pioneer furniture evolved from the simple basic furniture of the original settlers to the more elaborate furniture of the late 1800s. Robby himself took time out of his day to show me around his shop, demonstrating how his tools, in the hands of a craftsman, are just as efficient as power tools. Robby is the real deal, warm, personable and knowledgeable. If you’re ever in town, you must visit the place even if you’re not looking to buy furniture.
