点评:The roads into and in the park were appalling. While game viewing was quite good the awful roads spoiled the experience.
But that was not the worst thing. On entering the park at 5:30 pm at Naabi Gate, the internet was down causing a wait of an hour, meaning we drove in the dark to our tented camp. Not a good idea in a game park when it's getting late.
Leaving the park our group of 15 was looking for a picnic site. It was very crowded. Turning to head for the table, "A" fell over a large granite boulder (in a rectangular shape about .5 m high) with very rough edges, emberdded in the sidewalk. He not only scraped the front of his calves badly, he fell hard onto his forehead, cutting it just above the R eye. A deep cut which bled profusely. Thankfully a nurse and 2 doctors were there immediately to attend to him. He was advised to seek medical attention for stitches and to determine if he had a concussion.
Not even half an hour later a woman in our group rose from the picnic table to fall over yet another boulder embedded in the concrete sidewalk, falling hard onto her side. In extreme pain she couldn't move for a few minutes. Our two driver/guides carried her to the vehicle for the 4 hour drive over very bad roads to our accommodation. Fortunately the town near where we were spending the night has a private hospital and both individuals received treatment and CT scans. Concussion was ruled out, but the male patient was informed that had he landed on any other part of his head he could have died. A hairline hip fracture was determined for the woman. She was dependant on a wheel chair and handicapped access for the rest of the trip, which was still 3 weeks longer.
Why would a world-famous safari park have boulders strewn through the large picnic area, a hazard for everyone in such a crowded space? They should all be removed
