Easily recognizable as a Route 66 venue

点评：We drove down Route 66 through Springfield and spotted many of the guidebook places such as the Rail Haven Motel, the Steak & Shake, and Carl the Giant Muffler Man Chef. A lot of places scattered across the country on the route are not well identified or there are too many to uncover while trying to keep a schedule on the route. Flipping through guidebooks and watching out for Route 66 attractions seems to be harder than it looks. We simply stumbled on the Gillioz Theater by driving Route 66 through town and admiring the downtown architecture and looking for things that were the proper era to be along this original part of the highway . The Gillioz was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and was constructed in 1926, the same year Route 66 was named a national highway. It is now mainly a concert venue. You can get a tour by going on their website. There are so many of these treasures on Route 66 that we have broken the drive up into pieces because there is so much concentrated in areas like Springfield while hundreds of of others are miles out in the countryside and spread far apart. We definitely will be back to Springfield because we missed so much here.
