点评:So we visited the National Stone centre with an 8 and 12 year old who absolutely loved it. They found all the information in the information centre fascinating and really enjoyed the hands on displays. The panning for gold was okay given that they weren’t actually finding the gems but were given them in a bag and told to pour them into the pan. I understand it is to ensure it is fair for all the children. What we all really enjoyed was the trail and trek around the site. It was very interesting and educational. The cafe onsite was busy but the food (tea/coffee and cake) was reasonably priced and was okay in terms of quality. The car parking and signage as you go in is a bit hit and miss and it was only because I saw everyone going in one particular direction and we followed them did we find the car park and entrance. You can pay for parking in the shop which I didn’t realised. It isn’t somewhere we could spend all day but definitely a good few hours especially on a nice day as the walks and views are lovely. The best bit is it is free entrance!
