点评:Visited for the first time. Absolutely blown away by the welcoming knowledgeable staff and an excellent young lady volunteer guide. Beautiful house and gardens with interesting history. Plenty of tasteful info boards about the first and subsequent residents. Lots of atmosphere and insights into the cultural life of the house, families and the wartime use of the hall as a nursery. Absolutely fascinating aural histories from locals who went to the nursery. The gardens and cafe ( in the stable) are beautiful too with a good selection of sandwiches and cakes. You can sit inside or in the garden or alternatively take a picnic for one of the benches or deckchairs. There's a kitchen garden where produce is grown and used for the cafe.
Its clearly loved by the local community. Whilst there we noticed a few mums and grandparents there for coffee. Also there's 3 hours free parking in the Tesco car park 5 mins walk away. When I asked one of the staff for directions she commented on how gorgeous the place is. Station is apparently only 5 mins walk away from the hall too. Must see.
