点评:Steadily Praia da Luz has been developing since the mid 1960’s and development seriously exploded from 1980’s onwards to today still.
The “little” fishing village I knew and lived in from the mid 1970’s has all but gone as did the fishing boats that I watched and waited to come in with their catches just after dawn. They hauled in the boats initially then must’ve clubbed together for a tractor, which made it so quick I missed them! Now you have jet skis and speedboats pulling tourists alone on inflatables. There are now sun beds and shades to rent at 20.00euro (2025) whereas before it was your towel on the beach with a parasol!
The old folks have either disappeared or sold up to development as their once houses, shops and the bakers are estate agents, bars and restaurants. The expat community no idea as it’s been so long ago but I do wonder as I walk around whatever happened to the likes of these people, many will have passed and the rest who knows? Probably like me it was an age ago and we move on.
