点评：This museum is based in the building used by the Soviet Union during their period of occupation. The museum itself is fairly small, but packed full of interesting details and a very interesting video of testimonies from Latvians held there. You can also do a guided tour of the cells used to hold prisoners, the interrogation room, exercise yard etc. The guide we had, Jānis, was excellent. We learned a lot about the kinds of people held there, why they were there, how they were treated, and the impact the occupation had on the community. He ended our tour with a reminder of how important it is not to take the freedoms we have for granted. Occupations can be very swift, brutal, and the people you would normally rely on for help suddenly become the people to be afraid of. Would highly recommend this tour, which you will need to book in advance, as they sell out quickly.
