A great day out, but spoilt by parking fiasco.

点评：We had a fabulous day at Trentham Gardens, our first visit, but we will be back. Admittedly the sunshine helped, but the gardens looked wonderful, plenty of signs to identify the plants etc. and a lovely walk round the lake. So much care has gone into the planting and overall design- very impressive. Sadly we didn’t see any of the beavers or otters, but it was the wrong time of day.
I would have given 5 stars, but for the poor service at the takeaway cafe near the children’s playground and the complete lack of organisation in the car park. It took us 70 minutes ( not a typo, more than an hour) to get out of the car park at 4pm. Totally shambolic, not helped by the security guards, two of whom stood at the back chatting, one with a can of coke the other smoking. There were other security guards, including a gobby scouser who said they had a system despite no evidence of it working. Tip - don’t try to exit by the central aisle but go round by the side aisles where you can push into the main queue without any problem. Final point, it would have been good to upgrade to an annual pass for a more reasonable price. You can get a year’s ticket for all National Trust properties countrywide for the cost of a year here.
