Priscilla Beach Theatre的点评
点评：We started attending Priscilla Beach Theatre last year. It is such a great barn theatre! From the second you pull in the lot there is a feeling of joy. Last year my husband and I had a goal to visit and attend as many summer stock theatres in New England as possible. It was a fun quest and we attended 12 shows at 8 different theatres. Priscilla Beach was one of them and it was fun to find out the background and history of these hidden gems which are left over from a time when going to the theatre was an event.
We saw 9 to 5 which was a fun piece based on the movie of the same name. Bob Malone the current owner (and former software entrepreneur who invested millions) mills among the current theatre go-ers and it is clear that this is a labor of love for both he and his wife. Before the performance begins, he "m-cees" an introduction and even if you think you might hate the play, witnessing someone who is living his best life causes one to be infected by his unbridled enthusiasm.
The performance was fun. I did not like the "participation by video" of Dolly but the cast was very enjoyable.
Clearly most of the audience was over 50 and most likely season ticket holders.
Mr. Malone had shared with us last year that he does not need to advertise and most shows are sold out long before the season beginning. Clearly this is a local tradition which only adds to the atmosphere of joy .
