点评：This was such an unexpected treat - a hidden gem just 30 minutes from where I live but heretofore undiscovered. The gardens are such a tranquil, typically English delight, full of flowers attractig lots of butterflies, dragonflies and birds. But not too overly cultivated - the whole place had a feeling of barely tamed, lush growth, with lots of places to sit and enjoy and an accessible pathway around part of the gardens. Entering the house felt a little like walking into a stranger's home, but one chock full of history and fascinating art. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to- thank you, Sally. Though one visit to the house is probably enough, I certainly hope to visit the house and cafe again - and try out some of the walks around the estate. I imagine this is a delightful venue for a wedding or other event. Just lovely. And the staff were really helpful and welcoming.
