点评:We visited this newly refurbished and recently opened restaurant on a cold dreich February night. Thankfully a warm welcome awaited us in this stylish and tastefully decorated establishment. The menu is similarly understated with a choice of three starters, three mains and desserts.
We both opted for the Potted Crab, well balanced with dill, which we spread on the thinly sliced and toasted sourdough. Lovely.
My partner chose leeks, with Romesco sauce served on sourdough. Nicely executed. I was delighted with the braised mutton with Salsa Verde, and a smear of mint sauce on the accompanying sourdough. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce cut through beautifully. A good choice!
We selected a bottle of Moulin a Vent red wine which we both enjoyed, and finished by the fireside after our meal. Just the trick on such a cold night.
We really enjoyed our evening - the food was excellent, and the service charming. The restaurant has been open three weeks, and it did somehow feel that they are still finding their feet. We were unsure about the reliance on sourdough, and may have preferred an alternative accompaniment to our mains. A minor quibble though...everything was very good, and well executed.
Would I recommend to friends and family? Most certainly, and we hope to return, perhaps for coffee during the day, or even a glass or two of their excellent wine (which they're happy to serve without food).
