点评:I have been to Cadiz plenty of times but only found this place recently.
It was very pleasing to find out that entry is free, hurrah….apparently the theatre was only discovered in recent times as it was hidden underneath other structures.
Before you gain access to the remains, there are excellent displays and models of how the theatre looked originally and explanations about its origin and function.
The displays have detailed descriptions in several languages including English thankfully.
There is also a seating area where you can watch a film with 3D recreation of the theatre, the film is on a continuous loop alternating between Spanish English subtitles.
The actual remains of the theatre itself maybe less extensive than in other locations as much of the area is still under existing buildings or is lost but the displays and 3D film give you a real sense of what you are seeing when you are sitting on the stones gazing down where the stage once was.
I found myself feeling very relaxed and content sitting in the theatre contemplating all that must have happened in the area…there was also a very cute cat sitting on a window ledge of an apartment above where the stage once was.
He was enjoying the sun some 40 feet up, I hope he doesn’t slip!
