点评:I had never been aware that you could get a tour and experience a working mine. The admission fee was very reasonable approximately $50 for two seniors. We did the self guided tour at our own pace but enjoyed several rides on their trains to other parts of the mine. Be sure to take the "Dark Ride." If you are fortunate enough to get one of the joking drivers that made the whole ride a lot of fun. At one point they let you experience what total darkness is like. You actually could not see your hand in front of your face. I did not realize that miners have lost their eyesight within a week when they got lost and could not find their way out. The rule is they use a buddy system and never go anywhere without your buddy. Lots of interesting facts.
You go down 650 feet but the mine when you get down there is pretty large and there was no feeling of being claustrophobic.
My favorite part was where Civil Defense rations and supplies were stored during the cold war. Plus the part that movie studios use to store sets and costumes from movies.
The whole tour took about 2-3 hours to do it justice.
